[Virginia Beach, Virginia] – As the 2024 elections loom large, United Police Fund is spotlighting the critical issue of defunding the police. With law enforcement and public safety priorities at stake, voters are urged to carefully consider candidates’ positions on this divisive issue.
Defunding the police has emerged as a polarizing topic in recent years, with some advocating for reallocating funds away from law enforcement agencies. United Police Fund cautions that such measures could seriously affect communities nationwide, impacting response times, crime prevention efforts, and public safety. United Police Fund emphasizes the importance of voters understanding where candidates stand on defunding the police.
Executive Director of United Police Fund Christopher Strope says, “We’ve seen what happens when police are defunded and removed from communities. Take a look at Oakland’s crime rates over the past 4 years. The communities in that city have been ravaged with crime and violence. We have to stop this from spreading across the country. Instead, we need voters to step up and defend the police.”
To empower voters in making informed decisions, United Police Fund has released a comprehensive voter guide. The voter guide provides voters with a deeper understanding of the consequences of defunding initiatives, including potential impacts on response times, crime prevention efforts, and overall public safety. By studying the guide, voters can gain clarity on this complex issue and its implications for their communities, enabling them to make decisions that align with their safety and security concerns.
“Our goal is to provide a one stop shop for voters in 2024 with these crime and police issues that are front of mind for the upcoming election. If you are sitting in your city and seeing crime rise and the police unresponsive because of budget cuts, defunding or because of poor retention, then you need to vote in 2024 and we hope to be your resource,” said Chris Strope, President of United Police Fund.
The voter guide, a valuable resource for understanding the implications of defunding the police, is available for free and can be accessed here: https://unitedpolicefund.org/2024-voter-guide/. United Police Fund is committed to ensuring that voters have access to the information they need to make informed decisions in the upcoming elections.
