In the days leading up to the August 3 primary election in Washington state, the United Police Fund made a major effort to influence voters in support of our police officers. This voter outreach effort by the UPF focused on the Seattle metropolitan area – King, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties – because increasing crime and lawlessness in the Seattle region is harming the entire reion.
The UPF made over 400,000 voter contacts by phone, text, email, and social media on issues in support of law enforcement and crime prevention, and in opposition to the movement to “Defund the Police.”
One of the UPF voter alert email messages urged support for law enforcement and crime prevention, saying “After all, crime does not respect city limits! Seattle’s East Precinct, at 12th and Pine, is still barricaded as if in a war zone. Many Seattle police officers have left the force. And this outrageous situation affects the entire region, from Tacoma to Everett. From Bellevue to Kent.”
UPF’s Voter Awareness Project in the Seattle metropolitan area is part of a national effort that will be replicated in other cities and states throughout the country in the 2021 and 2022 elections.
